Retractable Pleated Insect Screen Mesh

A revolution is coming. Traditional fiberglass sliding and roll-up insect screens are outdated. Now is the time for a new type of mesh screen: the pleated retractable screen. Pleated screens are gaining popularity in Europe and making waves across the United States and Canada. They are being installed in an increasing number of homes, and for good reason.

A pleated screen is a modern redesign of the old mesh panel fly and insect screens commonly found in many residences. We all know these old-style screens simply do not last. Kids put their hands through them, people accidentally walk into them, and pets easily damage them with their claws. When they get damaged, they are often difficult to repair to a like-new condition. Additionally, the rubber spline of the screen can wear out in the heat or when exposed to direct sunlight, causing the mesh to separate from the edge of the frame. These issues are why pleated screens are becoming increasingly popular across the United States and Canada.

Another innovation now available in the United States and Canada is the trackless pleated screen. These screens feature a unique design that eliminates the need for a bottom rail system. This allows the trackless screen to be fitted to doors with a low or no bottom track, making them ideal for French doors and hinged doors with a flat threshold.

An unobtrusive 5mm high guide is placed along the floor to provide a track for the feet of the trackless screen. Additionally, these screens can be joined together to cover wide openings of up to 5 meters. Traditionally, covering wide openings with mesh screens has been challenging and expensive. While some companies offer roll-out screens, they can be prone to failure in various environments. The trackless system, however, provides a simple and cost-effective insect barrier for wide bi-fold doors, ensuring full coverage without compromising aesthetics.
